The following is a story I wrote about my grandson Marty, for one of my classes in college:
My grandson, Marty, is nine years old. He's very smart for his years, and good company. I enjoy taking him golfing because he becomes a very enthusiastic when he hits the ball well. When we go fishing I let him steer the boat. Last year we were fishing at Whidbey Island with friends party was the only one who caught fish. He was one proud little guy.
He has a natural aptitude for most sports. He is good at baseball and makes his share of home runs. He has a little trouble at school because he likes to visit instead of studying, but maybe he will grow out of that.
He has to be the man of his family because he has one sister and his mother who was divorced. This makes it a little tougher on Marty because he has no father image. He is adjusting to this situation as well as most kids in the same boat. One reason I am going to this school to get my diploma is because I want to impress upon him the value of getting an education.
Teachers comment: “This is excellent!”
